Friends of Broomfield Park were delighted to take part in The Big Draw Festival 2026, joining thousands of organisations around the world celebrating the joy, creativity and accessibility of drawing.

This year’s theme, “Make a Mark”, invited everyone to explore drawing as a way of seeing, thinking and connecting — not just creating a finished picture. The event was a great success, with lots of people turning up to unleash their creativity and enjoy trying something new.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Broomfield Park, the Big Draw encouraged people of all ages to slow down, observe the world around them and respond creatively through mark-making. From the shapes and textures of plants and still lifes to the exotic plants in the conservatiory, trees and plants in the orchard, the wildlife on and in the lakes, and responses from just being in the park, there was inspiration everywhere.

The Big Draw brought people together through creativity, learning and self-expression. The event gave visitors an opportunity to discover new ways to connect with Broomfield Park, with each other, and with their own imagination.

Lots of families came with all generations joining in the fun. Visitors picked up a pencil or another creative tool and made their mark!
