Elms Return to Broomfield Park

Community Tree Planting Event Sat 7th March 2pm

Broomfield Park once had a grand avenue of elm trees which were sadly lost as Dutch Elm disease decimated elms nationwide in the late 1970s.

Now, thanks to support from the charity Elms4London, we are delighted to see Elms trees coming back to Broomfield.

Elms4London who support the re-planting of elm trees across London, have provided FoBP with seven disease-resistant elm trees, which will be planted behind the netball/tennis courts in the main open area of the park.

Join us for a community event on Sat 7th March at 2pm to help plant the trees and welcome elms back to Broomfield,

As well as acknowledging the historic park landscape these trees will provide a habitat for the White Letter Hairstreak butterfly which breeds exclusively on elm trees and is of High Priority in butterfly conservation. Our knowledgeable volunteers will also be on hand to direct the process and also answer any questions you might have about getting involved as a volunteer.
