Unlocking Broomfield Park
The Trees of Broomfield Park: A guided walk
Join us for a free, 90-minute walk, guided by James Waterton, to discover some of the oldest, most notable and most interesting trees in Broomfield Park.
Learn about the Strawberry Tree, known for its striking red bark and edible fruit; the Pride of India Tree, with its elegant summer blooms and vibrant autumn foliage; and the Dawn Redwood, a living fossil once thought extinct, now thriving with its soft, feathery leaves.
We’ll explore many more remarkable trees along the way, uncovering their stories, ecological roles, and cultural significance. Whether you're a seasoned nature enthusiast or simply curious about the green spaces around you, this walk offers a unique opportunity to connect with the natural world.
Come along, ask questions, and enjoy a relaxed stroll among some truly special specimens!
John Cole, community engagement officer, will be on hand to answer your questions about the plans for Broomfield House and the wider park.
