UN Day event in Broomfrield Park Remembrance Garden

On Friday 17th October Broomfield Park hosted an event held by Enfield and the Barnets United Nations Association in the Garden of Remembrance to Mark United Nations Day.

The event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter coming into force in October 1945 and was marked by the unveiling of the restored birdbath in the Garden, which had originally been donated by the League of Nations Union.EBUNA had commissioned London Stone Works to refurbish the birdbath.

Various individuals gave speeches, including Ann Cable, Representative Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Bambos Charalambous MP, Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor of London, Councillor Doug Taylor Enfield Council, The Chair and Treasurer of EBUNA and Francis Sealey from Enfield Climate Action Forum. About 25 people attended in all and were invited for refreshments at the Palmers Greenery Community Café afterwards.
